Kinesiology

Kinesiology: What is it?

Kinesiology (pronounced kin-easy-ology) has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chiropractic methods.

It incorporates techniques such as acupressure, and meridian balancing, gentle structural manipulation, massage and nutrition.

Kinesiology works to balance all systems of the body, and can help with any health issue, physical or emotional.

How does it work?

Kinesiology assesses the patient via a muscle response test.  This is a gentle test which detects stresses and imbalances in the four areas of the body's systems:

  • Chemical (e.g. nutrition, hormones, pH balance, metabolism, immune response)
  • Structural (e.g. bones, muscles, tissues)
  • Emotional (e.g. stress, anxieties, fears, phobias, trauma)
  • Electromagnetic (e.g. hydration, energy levels, energy fields)

Kinesiology can uncover associations between health imbalances in the body, put them into an order of priority, and determine the most effective treatment.

Kinesiology can uncover underlying causes of ill health that are hard to find by other means.

In short, Kinesiology works where the body needs it most in the way that is most effective for that person.

Kinesiology can also be used on babies, young children and pets using another person to help with the testing.

Touch for Health Kinesiology:

Touch for health is one of the original branches of Kinesiology. It is a therapy in its own right and for those training as Kinesiologists provides the foundation for study in the advanced schools of Kinesiology.

A muscle balance optimises the use of the major muscles in the body to improve posture, co-ordination, freedom of movement, and strength. It can also help with clearing emotional blockages and fears, and with achieving goals. A muscle balance can help enhance the general functioning of organs and body systems.

Jo offers Touch for Health muscle balance as a therapy by itself, especially where structural / postural problem are apparent, and integrates it into her other Kinesiology treatments where appropriate.

For those of you who would like to learn Touch for Health to benefit yourself, family and friends, or would like to become a practitioner, Jo will be teaching part one of the four part Touch for Health courses in July 2008 in Sussex, and in Oxfordshire; September 2008. What conditions can be treated using Kinesiology?

Jo believes that Kinesiology can benefit anyone, no matter what their symptoms are.

Some of the symptoms Kinesiology can be applied to include:

  • Allergies and food intolerances
  • Weight problems
  • Emotional problems such as anxiety, depression, grief, anger, low self esteem, fears, phobias and addictions.
  • Sleep problems
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Low energy and chronic fatigue
  • Postural and co-ordination problems
  • Memory and learning difficulties
  • Poor immune system
  • IBS, Candida and poor digestion
  • Stomach discomfort and hiatal hernia
  • Hormone problems
  • Toxin elimination
  • High cholesterol

Jo sees Kinesiology as a body/ mind educator.  Kinesiology techniques help you to reprogram the emotional and habitual conditions that are preventing you from achieving your goals and maintaining good health.

Case history:

Caroline contacted me to ask for help for her 6 year old daughter Luna. Caroline told me that Luna was incredibly small for her age, she was tired all of the time and had black rings around her eyes. A blood test showed positive for parasites in the system, however the doctor there was nothing that could be done about it. This was when Caroline came to me.

Using kinesiology tools and muscle testing I assessed Luna's system for parasites and for the best way of attacking this infection. I suggested herbs and a simple change in diet. I also picked up on an emotional link, which I addressed with gentle emotional release techniques.

Two months later I spoke to Caroline who was amazed at how different Luna was in such a short space of time.

Caroline told me: 'She has grown so much that she has gone up two shoe sizes! She is eating better, has loads more energy and the black rings have gone from her eyes. She seems much happier and emotionally balanced'.

Learning Kinesiology

The next four part Touch for Health Kinesiology course start in July in Sussex and in September in Oxfordshire. More information can be found at Kinesiology and Touch for Health courses.

Jo runs Kinesiology taster workshops for those who would like to experience Kinesiology, either out of interest, or with a view to training as a practitioner.
