1b: Bodylanguage communication skills for better perfomance and behaviour. Horse Listening This course helps people to understand how horses communicate, and includes an introduction to body language
communication for training, joining up and long reining. The aim is to create a confident understanding and
effective approach to handling and training horses. Run by Jo Rose and Caroline Baldock. Caroline spent 4 years
working with Monty Roberts as his literary adviser on his ranch in California.

Saturday 18th September 10am - 4pm How Subtle is Subtle? Communicate with your horse through body language. Facilitated
by Jo Rose and Sue Gardner (Natural Horsemanship trainer) Through a variety of activities we will explore how horses
react to our thoughts and intent. Student will learn how to convey positivity in their commands through clearing negative
thoughts and taking control over their body language. The result will be improved confidence when working with horses. Students may bring their own horses or borrow one on site.

Module 6a: Equine Bio-mechanics workshop
This workshop will cover the anatomy and physiology of the horse.
It will also inlcude methods of assessing the horse at standstill and in motion for structural and gait imbalances.
Lotty will also demonstrate how stretches can improve movement and flexibility. This workshop will be run by
equine anatomy and movement specialist, Lotty Merry. Lotty makes this subject fun, 3 dimensional and hands
on. This is part of the Horse Listening Diploma training, but is open to anyone with an interest in equine structure
and movement.

will be performed by equine body worker and anatomy expert; Lotty Merry, who will taking us on an intricate journey through
the lower leg of the horse. She will be relating this to how the horse moves and common equine problems. A must
for anyone working with horses, and of valuable interest to those who own or ride horses. Light snacks provided before
the lecture and at mid interval.

Equine Stretch Therapy Course
Equine Bowen therapist and teacher, Lotty Merry, has found equine stretches to
be so beneficial in her practice, they now comprise of 50% of her equine therapy sessions. Lotty's stretch
sequence can help with stiffness, one sidedness, discomfort, injury recovery and prevention of injury. Lotty is now sharing
these stretches through her unique workshop. The day is ideal as continued professional development training for equine
complementary therapists / bodyworkers, and is recommended to those on the Horse Listening Diploma. Horse owners are
also welcome.

hedge herb identification and production for use, plus practical self selection experience with animals. Co-hosted with hedge herb specialist and zoopharmacognosist, Sophie Xi-Zeta. This workshop provides knowledge
on the common hedgerow herbs which have provided traditional remedies for animals. We will be making our own aromatics
and offering them to animals under the self selection method. Students will also learn about some of the essential
oils, plus other oils and dried plants commonly selected by animals.

behavioural problems. With Jo Rose and Caroline Baldock. This practical problem
solving day will cover techniques to prevent and solve behavioural issues such as spooking, and leading problems such
as loading etc. This is part of the Horse Listening Diploma, but open to anyone who has experience in training horses
(BHS stage 2/ NVQ 2, or equivalent, plus relevent experience).

TBA: 9.30 am - 5.30pm. Module 3b: Long lining for
training the horse and rider, plus trust through joining up. With Caroline Baldock and Jo Rose. This workshop explores how to correct problems through long lining; such as falling in, unbalanced transitions, poor head
carriage and lack of engagement through the quarters. Students will also discover how long lining can help improve
the rider's feel, and improve responses and clarity of aids. The workshop will also include exercises in joining
up to improve trust. Part of the Horse Listening Diploma, but open to anyone who has done some basic long lining, and
understands the correct movement and paces. For those on the Diploma course, these skills enable to offer really
valuable groundwork lessons to others.
TBA: 9.30 - 5.30pm Module 4b: Understanding
equine equipment and educating owners: With Caroline Baldock and Jo Rose In this workshop, students
are encouraged to develop a common sense approach to equine equipment, by questioning assumptions of what's best and worst
for the horse and its performance. For, example; we will be asking 'is the snaffle bit really the mildest bit?'.
We will also explore how to work with horse owners to help re-educate them with the Horse Listening principles. Thre
will also be a chance to do some further long lining practice. Part of the Horse Listening Diploma, but the morning
section is open to anyone wanting to learn about how equipment can improve or disrupt equine performance.

The Horse Listening Diploma Course This comprehensive training course uses knowledge and techniques from Natural Horsemanship, communication
techniques, appropriate handling and training techniques, complementary therapies, plus knowledge / practical work
in maintaining equine health and wellbeing through natural choices. This is
run by Jo Rose, with the help from specialist teachers in complementary and conventional methods of training and health.
Caroline Baldock, brings her knowledge of 4 years working alongside Monty Roberts. Terry Shubrook brings his skills
as a Kinesiologist and well know animal healer to the teaching program. Horse
Listening training is in three tiered system: Level 1 after year one provides the horse professional with additional
skills, and the horse owner with techniques to help their own horses. From here, the student may continue their training
to gain a professional qualification, specialising in either or both aspects of Horse Listening (complementary therapies,
performance training).
