SUMMARY:Whole Body Approach to Joint Realignment and Mobility for the Equine Therapist with Louise Mauferon Vernet (Equine Osteopath)
DESCRIPTION:£240 \nLouise has a busy equine osteopathic practice in Sussex\, and has been teaching CPDs for the past 9 years. \nThe aim is to take you through the best concepts and the best techniques that she applies as an Equine Osteopath.   This course will take you through a thorough process of assessment\, introduce you to a whole new way of connecting tensions in a body\, and train you in the techniques that are most likely missing in your toolbox to fully bring back structural balance and homeostasis to your patients. \nThese are concepts that will support you through your assessment and session\, and that you will be able to come back to no matter what\, as well as the structural assessment every osteopath does and the techniques that are most likely missing from your toolbox. You will learn: – how to test the joints of the body to map it out – how to organize this map in order of priority to make your sessions as efficient as can be – the different concepts such as compensation vs adaptation\, structure vs function\, primary vs secondary\, and more\, that will help you in the process of mapping out and understanding your patient’s body – how to release areas of the msk with soft techniques such as C7\, T1\, withers SI and more. \nLouise’s motivation:  I’ve come to realise that most of the struggles that they face is down to missing some key techniques to really take their work to the next level\, as well as\, unfortunately\, the wrong approach. So it takes them years to figure out by themselves things that they should have been taught in the first place\, letting self doubt sabotage their work in the meantime! Well\, I want to help. The therapists that I have met have been talented and passionate people. All they needed was the extra support to help them unlock those difficult cases\, realise that it’s okay think outside the box\, make connections they didn’t use to make\, and approach a few more areas of the body! As a result\, they felt more confident and able\, as they finally had words and techniques to support what their intuition was nudging them towards! This is what this course is all about. \n  \nTestimonial: \nMy third time training with Louise and one of many times I have been to a CPD at Jo Rose’s.\nThe atmosphere is always so welcoming\, a group of like-minded people all working together to learn more for the better of the horse.\nLouise is a fountain of knowledge and so keen to share everything she knows whilst also being so open to new ideas and possibilities. Each time I have trained with her I have found her so engaging and full of enthusiasm\, she makes learning fun.\nI am looking forward to visiting Jo’s again for more training in the future and would also love to learn more from Louise.\nI always come away from these days having learned so much but still wanting more.\nJessica Limpkin\, Equine bodyworker\n\nTo book\, please contact us.

SUMMARY:Hanna Somatics® (EHS) Applications for the Equine Manual Therapist CPD
DESCRIPTION:£110 \nEquine Hanna Somatics® (EHS) is a recently pioneered modality that reawakens and reeducates the brain’s control of muscles.   Adapted for the horse by Dr Eleanor Criswell Hanna\, co-creator of Hanna Somatics® (EHS) for humans\, she discovered that it works just as well if not better with the equine body and mind.  Like humans\, horses accrue restrictions as a natural consequence of stress and this manifests in the body as chronic muscle contractions\, which affect movement and cause pain.  Over time chronic muscle contractions\, which are also known as tension or tight muscles\, become the norm because the brain has forgotten what the natural resting length of the muscle feels like.   EHS works with the horse’s brain to reset these dysfunctional muscle firing patterns and helps the horse achieve optimum efficiency\, balance and range of motion as physical and psychological comfort\, posture\, functionality and well being are improved.    \n\n\nBased on true partnership and trust between horse and practitioner\, this unique natural method requires the horse actively and voluntarily participates in the process.  During “ Somatic Movement ” the horse uses a particular part of their brain called the Voluntary Motor Cortex to control the muscles.  This is achieved with the practitioner inviting and guiding the horse through a protocol of natural movements and it is this mindful voluntary participation that is key to the horse effecting the changes from within.  Every time a horse does EHS it is a learning experience because they are connecting many neurons in the brain. This is what makes EHS an educational process with therapeutic bodywork effects.  It embraces the mind and body not being separate.  There is no pressure\, manual manipulation\, massage or stretching etc.  Instead EHS taps into nature’s way of resetting excess muscle tension\, which is a natural brain stem reflex that all healthy vertebrates do called pandiculation.   \n\n\nEHS is gentle and suitable for all horses at any age or stage of development and can be a session on its own or incorporated with other modalities and techniques.  It is not unusual for horses to become very fond of the practitioner doing EHS with them\, so it can also be foundational work ahead of other modalities\, especially with horses who have experienced trauma or abuse.  \n\n\n\nThe course will start with theory followed by a demonstration and then hands-on practice with horses. Students will also be guided through some Hanna Somatics exercises so they can begin to understand what the horse experiences.   It is a full day including:  \n\n\n\nThe history and principles of EHS  \n\n\nThe neurophysiology of EHS  \n\n\nMotor Sensory Amnesia  \n\n\nPosture\, movement and palpation assessment   \n\n\nApplying the EHS Session 1 Protocol to different postures \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nThis CPD course is run by Ilse Kemp\, Equine Hanna Somatics Practitioner\, Equine Massage Therapist\, and a teacher with over 20 years experience.     \n\n\nIt is an introduction to EHS and aimed at all equine practitioners wishing to broaden and enhance their skillset.  \n

SUMMARY:The three canine diaphragms and their role in whole body function CPD: A holistic approach to treatment
DESCRIPTION:£130 for the one day\, or £220 for both the equine and canine CPDs. \nZoom attendance is possible for this course if you are unable to attend on site. \nThis CPD day with Osteopath; Sara Farina\, explores the three diaphragms of the body (cervicothoracic\, respiratory and pelvic) and how their function influences each other within the integrated body as a whole. The diaphragms are in constant movement\, forming a pressure regulating mechanism for brain-body function. To practitioners\, they provide an access point to affect the nervous system’s regulatory mechanisms and influence optimal wellbeing of the animal. This course will draw on evidence-based biomechanical principles\, as well as osteopathic treatment theory to provide a holistic approach to the consideration\, assessment and treatment of the three diaphragms. \nBook on HERE. \nDAY OUTLINEMorning:–         Introduction to the concept of the three diaphragms within the body–        Anatomy and pathophysiology of the cervicothoracic\, respiratory and pelvic diaphragms and related structures–        Anatomy of the vagus and related nerves and their relationship with the diaphragms–        Evidence informed approach to biomechanical release of these areas and consequent benefits–        Regional interdependence: how the function of each diaphragm influences the others and the whole body–        Considerations around movement biomechanics and how good function of the diaphragms effects this–        Theory of osteopathic techniques taught\, such as fascial release and mobilisation–        Outline of techniques which will be taught in afternoonAfternoon:–        Demonstration of techniques with time for students to practice and receive hands on tuition  –        Q&A and final considerations

SUMMARY:Debunking the myth of the twisted pelvis: an evidence based approach to equine Sacroiliac Joint issues
DESCRIPTION:£130 \nThis lecture will draw on modern evidence-based pathophysiology and clinical evidence to provide an overview of sacroiliac region pain issues in the ridden horse.  \nManual therapy has for many years used terminology such as “twisted pelvis” which is incorrect and reductive.  \nThrough an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of the SIJ\, its surrounding ligamentous strictures\, muscle groups and neuro vascular connections\, we can approach SIJ pain in a modern\, evidence-based and effective way. The practical part of the lecture will show what assessment protocols to use in pain evaluation of this region and what hands on techniques are best suited for the holistic treatment of this area and beyond.  \nBrought to you by Johnston-Farina Method (registered trademark). Taught by Sara Farina (osteopath) and Dr Ross Johnston PhD (osteopath) \nBOOKING LINK

SUMMARY:Canine Myofascial Release: Indirect Deep Tissue Release and Cranial Applications
DESCRIPTION:£240 \n£220 for AMT and IAAT members. \nThis course is taught via Zoom on day 1\, with Jo Rose\, covering up to date research and professional opinions in fascia function/ health\, rebalancing approaches\, plus some home practice applications.  Day 2 is a fully practical hands on day  held at Little Green Stables\, Chard\, with Becky Baylis. \nThis CPD for canine manual therapists provides tuition in the indirect approach to canine myofascial release.  This involves slow sustained pressure\, working with the tissue and responses of the dog.  The methods taught are great for more sensitive dogs\, tissue in strong spasm or that is very restricted\, and where other methods are not successful. The effects are relaxing\, yet effective and long lasting. The method also includes osseus releases; gently and safely realigning joints.  It will also include some myofascial cranial-sacral applications\, plus discussion on the vagus nerve\,  lymphatic and glymphatic systems and associations with the acupressure meridian system. \nThe course is taught by animal musculoskeletal therapist; Jo Rose.  The course material includes the history of the method\, a detailed look at fascia and its many functions\, and what happens in dysfunction.  Much of the course is practical\, enabling students to get a feel of fascia releasing\, and how this benefits both body and the emotions. \nJo has worked alongside Dawn Seaman\, helping to facilitate the equine and canine Myofascial Release CPDs for many years\, and also has trained extensively in human Myofascial Release with MFRUK.  She has attended fascia training with Leon Chaitow and Robert Schleip\, amongst others.  Jo uses Myofascial release as a primary method to release deep physical and emotional tension throughout the body and realign the structure. \nTo book\, please contact us. \n
