SUMMARY:Interoception/ Neurosomatic Applications for Mechanical\, Nervous and Visceral Recalibration
DESCRIPTION:£100\, or £90 if you are an AMT or IAAT member.  A Zoom option is possible\, but won’t include coverage of equine practice. \nInteroception has been described as the 8th sense; and the most powerful from a self regulation point of view.  Through focused therapeutic applications\, we can stimulate this sense to bring about balance throughout the body; physically\, emotionally and biochemically. \nThis course explains explains why touch therapy works on the whole body; homeostasis\, nervous system\, visceral systems\, fascia and musculoskeletal system via stimulating interoception. There will be application techniques for the nervous system to support this\, and for ourselves to create the best patient / client relationship.  Practice will be with dogs and horses on site.  It may be possible to attend via Zoom. \nWe will cover: \n\nInteroception as a means of facilitating homeostasis\, nervous system\, visceral and tissue tone regulation.\nThe three levels of tauma impact on the nervous system.\nUnderstanding the concept of interoception in dysfunction as well as function.\nThe connection between interoception\, pandiculations and somatic experiencing\, and the relationship with fascial receptors\, the central nervous system\, autonomic nervous system including the vagus nerve.\nMindfulness applications to activate interoception for re-organisation of the nervous system.\nRe-organisation of the nervous system through slow muscle energy techniques focussing on isometric movement.\nRe-organisation of the musculoskeletal system to release compensatory patterns via interoception and pandiculations.\nRe-organisation of the visceral system and emotions via interoception and somatic experiencing.\nUp-regulating the system using focused rhythmic movement as a whole for balanced function.

SUMMARY:Debunking the myth of the twisted pelvis: an evidence based approach to equine Sacroiliac Joint issues
DESCRIPTION:£130 \nThis lecture will draw on modern evidence-based pathophysiology and clinical evidence to provide an overview of sacroiliac region pain issues in the ridden horse.  \nManual therapy has for many years used terminology such as “twisted pelvis” which is incorrect and reductive.  \nThrough an in-depth understanding of the anatomy of the SIJ\, its surrounding ligamentous strictures\, muscle groups and neuro vascular connections\, we can approach SIJ pain in a modern\, evidence-based and effective way. The practical part of the lecture will show what assessment protocols to use in pain evaluation of this region and what hands on techniques are best suited for the holistic treatment of this area and beyond.  \nBrought to you by Johnston-Farina Method (registered trademark). Taught by Sara Farina (osteopath) and Dr Ross Johnston PhD (osteopath) \nBOOKING LINK

SUMMARY:Animal Acupressure part 1 with Lucy Yeomans
DESCRIPTION:£230 \nIn this animal acupressure course Lucy Yeomans shares the approach that has made her a successful practitioner.  This includes location and treating of key points that influence the balance of the wellbeing mechanisms of the body; physical\, internal function and emotional health. \nThis CPD course includes an e-book\, which students will receive before-hand.  Students will  be introduced to the Chinese meridian system and their relationship with the qualities of the 5 elements.  They will learn key points to balance the meridians and help both physical and emotional issues.  Horses and dogs will be available to practice on during the day. \nTo attend\, learners must be qualified in an animal manual therapy or animal energy work therapy. \nWe keep our groups fairly small (around 10) to enable participants to fully benefit from the tutor’s guidance. \nTo book\, please contact us. \nMore information…

SUMMARY:The three canine diaphragms and their role in whole body function CPD: A holistic approach to treatment
DESCRIPTION:£130 for the one day\, or £220 for both the equine and canine CPDs. \nZoom attendance is possible for this course if you are unable to attend on site. \nThis CPD day with Osteopath; Sara Farina\, explores the three diaphragms of the body (cervicothoracic\, respiratory and pelvic) and how their function influences each other within the integrated body as a whole. The diaphragms are in constant movement\, forming a pressure regulating mechanism for brain-body function. To practitioners\, they provide an access point to affect the nervous system’s regulatory mechanisms and influence optimal wellbeing of the animal. This course will draw on evidence-based biomechanical principles\, as well as osteopathic treatment theory to provide a holistic approach to the consideration\, assessment and treatment of the three diaphragms. \nBook on HERE. \nDAY OUTLINEMorning:–         Introduction to the concept of the three diaphragms within the body–        Anatomy and pathophysiology of the cervicothoracic\, respiratory and pelvic diaphragms and related structures–        Anatomy of the vagus and related nerves and their relationship with the diaphragms–        Evidence informed approach to biomechanical release of these areas and consequent benefits–        Regional interdependence: how the function of each diaphragm influences the others and the whole body–        Considerations around movement biomechanics and how good function of the diaphragms effects this–        Theory of osteopathic techniques taught\, such as fascial release and mobilisation–        Outline of techniques which will be taught in afternoonAfternoon:–        Demonstration of techniques with time for students to practice and receive hands on tuition  –        Q&A and final considerations
