The foraging aspects of the course include guided foraging sessions in Spring, Summer and Autumn, with an invited expert. The day includes collecting herbs and making your own products, and of course we include animal application.
These days are always fun, fascinating and productive. The sessions with the animals provide students with practical application and reinforced understanding of animal body-language responses and how we work with them.
Each season provides new or changing herbs, and we focus on different products for each one. Products we make include: infusions, decoctions, compresses, poultices, wound powders, macerated oils, gels.
All of our outside experts are very experienced in their field, providing information on identification of hedgerow herbs, their properties and qualities, and experiences of application with animals. Their knowledge covers broad influences from herbal folklore to medicinal horticulture and the relevance of plant families.
