Autumn Foraging and preparing hedge herbs, plus animal application through self selection
30th September 2017 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
In this unit of the Animal Applied Herbal Choices course, learn about our native Autumn hedge plants, and animal self medication.
This workshop provides knowledge on easily identifiable hedgerow plants, plus a practical session in drying, infusions, decoctions, gels, berry leathers and infused honeys. We will also observe animal responses when offered fresh, dried and macerated hedge plants for self selection.
Students are provided with comprehensive details of the plants, their traditional uses, preparation and contraindications. This includes foraging with application to animals via self selection. Students are advised to bring a notebook and camera for extra notes and a reference for identification.
On returning to the classroom, the herbs are then prepared for use and storage. Students learn how to dry, macerate, make poultices, produce gels for topical application, and more. A practical section with animals is also included in the foraging days.
The fee is included in the full Herbal Choices for Animals training. Please contact us for details if you are interested.
Forage only for those wanting to attend the morning as interest only: £50
