The Science of Gut Health; Managing Inflammation and Metabolic Issues in Animals with Dr Carol Hughes
November 12 @ 9:30 am - 4:00 pm£100
Dr Carol Hughes is a researcher into the use of British wild plant constituents for common animal conditions, particularly those related to obesity, metabolic disorders and inflammation. She is part of the Phytorigins team, which is developing a centre of excellence for Bioscience and the use of plant chemicals as medicine. This team has produced a variety of plant based supplements for animal health and wellbeing (horses, dogs and cats). She has developed herbal anti-inflammatory and gut supplements in conjunction with research in Newmarket, and specialised testing and treatment equipment to benefit the health of the gut biome in horses and dogs, particularly with regards to inflammation and metabolic disorders.
This day provides attendees with current research information into disorders related to feeding and management, and use of plants and their constituents as remedies for horses and pets. Carol always has some fascinating new science to share with us.
This CPD workshop is aimed at those who are current or previous students on the Applied Herbal Choices for Animals course or are Applied Zoopharmacognosy qualified, or whose qualifications include animal nutrition. However, if you have a keen interest in herbs for animal health, please let us know as there may be additional spaces.
