Herbal Energetics and Scientific Principles
July 26 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm£90
This CPD day, run by Rachael Maxwell, focuses on both herbal energetics and science giving the student a strong base of research to build herbal energetic principles upon.
Students spend the morning focusing on chemical consituents and their application and actions, relating to commonly used and available herbs. The day starts with an introduction to phytochemistry looking at primary and secondary metabolites, carbohydrates including prebiotics, glycosides, gums and mucilages. Lipids, terpenes, Polyphenols including courmarin and alkaloids. Rachael the provides information relating to plant families that contain anti-tumour compounds.
The afternoon includes organoleptic (impression on the organs) tasting to help identify a plants quality and potential application. Rachael describes what plant energetics are and how you could apply this into your practice. Rachael will provide an analysis of some well know herbs and how energy, the environment and the animal’s constitution can guide the practitioner in the correct herbs to offer. The afternoon will allow for time for the student time to spend with a chosen plant, intuitively working to identify its energetics.
The CPD is aimed at Applied Herbal Choices for Animals graduates and students, Applied Zoopharmacognosy practitioners, and qualified human therapists, where herbs or nutrition are a relevant part of their therapy.
Rachael gained a degree in horticulture in 2004, she later went on to qualify in Animal Manipulation and massage and has worked as an animal therapist since 2013.
