Rehabilitation and Strengthening of the Ridden Equine

This day is facilitated by Becky Baylis (Animal Physiotherapist and Holistic practitioner).
This is a full practical day looking at rehabilitation of the ridden equine, covering:
Becky will discuss how clinical and subclinical body lameness may present as limb lameness or performance issues. This will include evaluation of the ridden horse in all paces on video. She will then put forwards specific core training concepts for different issues and abilities in rehabilitation or straightening and strengthening.
The practical sessions will include:
Assessment in hand.
In-hand exercises for developing proprioception and straightness.
Long reining for core strength and improved flexibility.
Ridden exercises to develop core strength and flexibility, given in walk to enable the equine therapist to provide onsite help, plus recommendations for faster paces as after care strengthening.
We will specifically target muscle groups according to the needs of the horse, along with general core strengthening and postural correctness of the horse.
The aim is to build balance, stability, enhance flexibility and coordination in the ridden equine as part of their education process. This is also valuable for re-educating post injury or for fitness training. This course is for anyone interested in rehabilitation and training in the ridden equine.
